We're seeking friendly men and women to help out at our Muddy Boots group for people living with dementia and family carers. An uplifting and rewarding way to spend time enjoying the great outdoors.
Our Muddy Boots Group meets fortnightly on the first and third Mondays of each month from 2pm to 3.30pm. We meet at the REME Museum in Lyneham, with some occasional meetings taking place 'on location' at friendly farms and gardens in North Wiltshire. We'll aim to be outside at every meeting, with the option of crafts inside for those who prefer indoor adventures. And when the weather is very bad we can spend our time together exploring the fascinating REME Museum.
Our volunteers will help to set up the room, provide a friendly welcome to members, serve refreshments and most importantly join in the activity, supporting members and family carers to get the most out of the session. A member of Alzheimer's Support staff is present as a facilitator at all our groups.
We offer you training in dementia awareness and provide on-going support to our volunteer team
Please note the group start time is 2pm, however, volunteers arrive earlier (exact time to be specified by the group organiser) to set up the room, prepare refreshments etc.
Initally we would like you to meet with our volunteer manager Annie Clayton and complete volunteering forms. We do ask that you provide contact information for two referees, who are not family members and have known you for at least two years.
Interested?
