An introduction and awareness session to develop safeguarding knowledge and confidence
This tailored awareness session is for voluntary and community groups working with adults at risk and vulnerable children. The session will cover the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults and will refer to the Wiltshire Safeguarding Vulnerable People Partnership procedures and policies.
The session will cover
- Types and signs of abuse (physical, emotional/psychological, neglect, sexual, financial, discrimination)
- Prevent Duty, identification of children/adults at risk and reporting Prevent concerns
- Asking the right questions to distinguish where possible between symptoms of PTSD / emotional trauma and safeguarding issues, knowing when questioning crosses boundaries in terms of safeguarding & signposting to mental health organisations to support
- Reporting thresholds, recording and reporting procedures, securing initial records for evidential purposes if necessary, acting in situations where someone is at imminent risk
- Organisations in Wiltshire who work together to support safeguarding (and very briefly covering mental health support)
This training is being delivered by Winterbury Training on behalf of Wessex Community Action for volunteers and staff from Voluntary and Community Sector organisations based in Wiltshire.
