Warm and Safe Wiltshire is looking for Wiltshire based volunteers to help us reduce fuel poverty in Wiltshire. The volunteer(s) would do this by attending events to give energy advice and raise awareness about the project.

Warm & Safe Wiltshire is a partnership between the Centre for Sustainable Energy, Wiltshire Council, Swindon Borough Council and Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service. The aim of the project is to help people stay warm and healthy in their homes, lower their fuel bills and reduce their impact on the environment. Individuals who are struggling often hear about our projects through events in their local community. This means that events, large and small, play in big role in what we do.

This volunteer(s) would be working with one of our experienced Energy Caseworkers to attend events in and around Swindon and Wiltshire. Events would likely be 2 or 3 a month (but could be busier) and could be at the evenings or weekends. We don't ask for a specific time commitment, just put yourself forward for events that are convenient for you in terms of date and location.

The role would involve:

  • Giving Energy Efficiency guidance to members of the community at events, including vulnerable people
  • Researching and booking local events in the community
  • Representing CSE on your own at events after a period of induction and training

We are looking for someone who;

  • Finds it easy to chat to members of the community of all different ages and backgrounds
  • Has good attention to detail and can record someone’s details carefully and accurately
  • Has an interest in helping people reduce their environmental impact and keen to help people lower their bills and stay warm
  • Is confident, friendly and able to work independently
  • Is a reliable and committed to attending events

In this role you would get the following from W&SW:

  • On the job and formal training
  • Invites to CSE Volunteer trainings and socials (CSE is based in Bristol, some trainings may be remote)
  • Opportunity to join CSE staff seminars or meetings as appropriate to the work you are doing
  • Travel expenses paid and subsistence paid for a full day of volunteering

Note: Car not required as W&SW caseworker can help with travel, no energy experience necessary

When :

Events would likely be 2 or 3 a month (but could be busier) and could be at the evenings or weekends.
