Open Door, Warminster is a small charity supporting the Warmnster area. It provides drop-in chat cafes for anyone adversely affected by loneliness, social isolation, cancer or bereavment. Open Door is an entirely volunteer-led charity. It has no employees, no capital assests and is entirely funded through grants and donations. So the finance strategy and management activities are light and straightforward.
The role requires attendance at 11 monthly Board meetings. These usually take place in The Athenaeum Centre at 12:30pm on a Friday, lasting for 90 minutes. At these meetings, you will present the management accounts and talk through any issues and opportunities - for ensuring financial resilience - with the other Trustees.
During the month you will manage the accounts, paying any invoices and reimbursing expenses; maintaining appropriate records of all transactions.
Each year you will draft the annual budget - based on input from all Trustees and identify appropriate income sources to meet the needs. The charity currently has a volunteer fundraiser who would complete the grant applications.
Open Door Warminster is a registered charity and it complies with Charity Commission requirements on Trustee Annual Reporting, which includes an annual financial statement that you will draft for Trustee approval.
So, there you go... that's the formal stuff! In short this is a hugely valuable role - supporting and guiding a small charity that delivers big impact. It's not hugely onerous in terms of time or content - and all the Trustees and the whole volunteer team (30 strong) are committed to esuring Open Door continues to deliver its much needed services.
