Wessex Community Action would like to invite you to the next meeting of the Volunteer Managers Forum.
The meeting will provide an opportunity to check-in and see how we are all doing and take the opportunity to consider the state of volunteering (as we know it) in the sector at this time. Our recent VCS Impact Survey provided the following headlines.
- 24% organisations seen an increase in demand for services, to manage the extra demand, 44% groups are calling for more volunteers .
- However, 36% of groups have seen a reduction in volunteer numbers
- for 70% of respondents, the profile of volunteers had not changed. Where there has been a change in demographic of volunteers:
- 18% reported more working age (pre-retirement)
- 10% saw more volunteers from the immediate area / local community
- 5% saw more young people (16 – 24 yrs) coming forward to volunteer
- In next 6 – 12 months 37% of organisations expect to recruit additional volunteers
We would like to explore this in more detail but also to check in with you all and see what is emerging in your organisation & where you may need more support, advice and training etc. As in previous Forum meetings we will do some Peer 2 Peer support using the Action Learning Set model.
The forum will provide the opportunity to hear from other volunteer managers who have created some innovative ways of engaging and supporting existing and new volunteers.
The Agenda and Zoom link will be sent out prior to the event.
